THE 200 – Spiritual Warfare
A considerable portion of the ministry of Jesus involved confrontation with the spiritual powers of evil. The demonic powers are as active today in the 21st Century as they were in the time of Jesus. All humans are the subjects of their influence. The Church needs to integrate in its way of being and doing mission in society and culture the biblical worldview that presents the spiritual powers of evil as actively engaged in threatening its existence and the effectiveness of its mission in the world. In this course, students will learn to follow in the footsteps of Jesus as they apply the victory that has already been won through His sacrifice on the cross and His resurrection from the dead in confronting the demonic powers who are active in the daily life of people, society, and culture. They will study spiritual warfare and deliverance from a perspective that integrates the victory of Jesus over the powers of evil with the peace of Jesus that is experienced in the inner life of the individual and in all areas of social relationships.
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Develop a biblical theology of spiritual warfare.
- Apply the identity and authority of the follower of Jesus in spiritual warfare and deliverance.
- Develop a personal theology of spiritual warfare that will be useful in the life of the student and the local church and its mission to a world of violence and pain.
- Integrate the presence and peace of Jesus in the ministry of spiritual warfare and deliverance.
